I love the whole concept of those strapless, backless bras but that silicone, self adhesive bras just don’t work well for me. That’s the problem with wearing large bra size; if the bra is strapless it has to have a wide back strap, but what if I want to wear a strapless and backless dress? I’ve been searching for a solution for this problem for a very long time and I think I found it now. I’m talking about a relatively new product called D+ perk ups. Women wearing large bra sizes know how hard it is finding even a regular bra and don’t get me started with strapless styles. Large breasts demand a lot of support so regular strapless bras just don’t work well even if they are available in large bra sizes. Does that mean women wearing D+ bra size are doomed to wearing normal bras at all times? Off course not! There are strapless bra sizes and styles out there that can support large breasts just as well as the regular ones. You just have to know what are you looking for, so I’ll do my best to try to explain how a plus size strapless bra should look like.

Well, the first and the most important thing is understanding how straps and band work. I mention a few times that when you’re trying out a bra, you are supposed to take off the straps to make sure the bra is not slipping down without them. You see, straps are there just to help and provide more comfort, they are not supposed to keep the entire weight of your breasts, a band is supposed to do that. So a well fitting band is the key factor in support for all bra sizes and especially for plus size bras.

So, when picking a strapless bra in large size, you need to make sure the band is able to hold the weight of large breasts. Off course, not every strapless bra can do that, so focus on the underwired styles with wide band and good coverage cups. You see, big breasts are heavy, much heavier than smaller ones, so bra style that looks great on your smaller busted friends probably won’t fit you. If the band is too narrow, the bra will probably slip down and your breasts will sag. You don’t want that, right?

When talking about plus size bras, I, off course, have to point out Lane Bryant. This name was not known to me until the whole ABC/ FOX scandal broke out. Apparently, these network stations refused to air Lane Bryant’s plus size lingerie commercial only because they think plus size lingerie is not as hot as the normal size one. Terrible! So, when I’ve heard this I decided to check out this lingerie and I’ve come to the realization that Lane Bryant has the most amazing plus size bra collection I’ve ever seen!

These bras are not pointy and don’t look like they have been taken out of grandma’s closet. I love the variety of colors, styles and prints. Just amazing and just what any girl wearing a large bra size would need. Just check out this amazing lilac bra! It’s very sexy and as you see, the cups are designed perfectly to provide lift, support and great shape. Now, that’s what I call a good plus size bra!

And here’s another sexy bandeau bra style from this brand. I love the chiffon ruffles and, although I don’t think it would work for casual, everyday wear, I can totally picture myself wearing it in “special occasions”. I’m sure you know what I mean. If you are a DD size or maybe even higher, you know how hard it is to find a bra that fits well and looks great. I often get disappointed when I go bra shopping and realize that the style I like is not available in DD bra size. The disappointment is even bigger when they have the DD bra size but when I try it on I figure out that’s not a DD size at all. I really hate to see large busted women packed in two sizes smaller bras with breasts overflowing everywhere possible. It doesn’t only look cheap, I just can’t imagine a size smaller bra being anywhere near to comfortable. One friend of mine justifies her habit of wearing smaller bras with the fact that there is no nice looking plus size bras available. However, that’s not true. It all comes to this: Are you persistent enough to search for the right size bra? Because if you are, it will definitely pay out and you will find it sooner or later.

Now, let’s deal with the problem of finding the right size bra a little bit. The right size bra is the one that doesn’t ride up when you move so when you try on a certain model you should move a little bit to test it. Bend over and touch your toes, for example. If the bra stays pretty much in the same place after that, continue the testing as this may be your perfect bra.

Large breasts tend to sag so if you don’t want them to start flapping around your knees in 10 to 15 years, you’ll need to focus on underwired bras that will support and lift them. In plus size bras shoulder straps play a big role so, for everyday wear, pick a bra with wide ones. They will not cut into the skin so more support and comfort are guaranteed.

Pick a cup size that is not too small so your breasts won’t spill over the top. Spillover problems are very common for women wearing large bra sizes but there is a way around this. Seamless bras made from soft foam are ideal for preventing this. There are also many models designed to override this problem, so do a little bit of research before you go shopping. Not all women’s breasts are the same shape so you’ll have to try different styles to find the one that matches with yours.

When it comes to large breasts, measuring bra size can be tricky. So, in order to get a good fitting plus size bra that will be able to support your “two girls” you’ll have to do a little bit more math and a little bit more experimenting. It pays out to do more work, though, as finding the right bra size is the only way to ensure comfort and an adequate “package” in which your breasts will look best.

You’ll do the measuring of the bust and band size the way I’ve already described, but you will also take another measure and that is the size above your breasts. For smaller bra sizes this is not necessary but if you think you should be wearing a DD bra size or higher, taking this measure and using it to calculate your cup size will give the most accurate results. So, you should take a measuring tape and place it under your armpits, just above the breasts. When you get that size subtract the bust size from it and the difference you get will be the criteria to determine the cup size.

2,5- 3,5 inches difference is a C cup

3,5- 4,5 inches is a D cup

4,5- 6 inches is a DD cup

6-7 inches is a DDD cup

7- 8 inches difference is a G cup

Now, when it comes to large bra sizes, especially DD size or higher, I have to say that finding the right size bra can be pretty difficult because not all manufacturers use the same marks nor the standards are the same. In Europe, the sizes go alphabetically, so there are no DD or DDD sizes but sizes E and F instead. DD size can also vary from one country to another, Japanese plus size bras are smaller than the ones in US or Europe, for example. And not only that! Sizes can vary from one manufacturer to another in the same country! So, if  bras so far have never fitted perfectly, don’t get disappointed or think that there is no right size bra for you. Finding a perfect plus size bra is tricky business (believe me, I know!), so try changing the brand. You know what I said for AA size? Well, for us the same rule applies- experimenting, experimenting and experimenting until we find the style and cup size that fits and feels the most natural and comfortable.

In my opinion, an AA bra size is perfect because with this size you have the complete freedom when it comes to picking a bra style. Girls with large bra size often find their cup size limiting to a certain point as the bra needs to be underwired, and for very large bra sizes, wide straps are very desirable. However, if you’re blessed with something like an AA bra size, you’ll have no problems wearing all those great strapless or balconnet bras.

I’ve heard many girls wearing an AA bra size complaining about it and trying to find a heavily padded bra to overcompensate. But, to be honest, I would appreciate having an AA bra size. But really! But, hey, that’s us girls – we always want the only thing we don’t have and you know how they say:”The grass is always greener on somebody else’s lawn.” I mean, just think about all the styles an AA bra size allows you to wear!  I’ve found some great Victoria’s Secret models, just to show you exactly what I have in mind. Some are padded, so if you want your breasts to appear a little bit bigger, they are a perfect choice. Check out this miraculous, animal printed push-up bra. It’s really sexy and I’m sure it’ll bring out your wild side.

There are, off course, many unpadded, natural looking ones, like this lacy front-hook triangle top bra. Now, this is the benefit of wearing an AA cup, you have the opportunity to wear something like this- sexy but still soft and comfortable.

I picked this third one because an AA bra size is often associated with sporty bras. Well, this sexy variation is the perfect example of brining sporty bras to whole another level.

The great thing about this cup size is that you can allow yourself to be without a bra here and there which is a complete no-no for girls wearing a large bra size. Not to mention how large breasts can cause a lot of back pains if they are not well supported by an underwired bra. Unlike big ones, smaller breasts stay perky longer and, if you’ve already found the right size bra, the style and the brand that works best for you, you have big chances for your breasts to stay youthful looking and resist the gravity for many years.

Women’s bra size is not the main criteria when it comes to deciding what is hot and what is not. Thank God days when Pamela Anderson was considered to be a role model are long gone. Ok, there are still guys out there who think an ideal woman should look like that, but most guys I’ve discussed this topic with actually admitted they prefer smaller breasts.

An AA bra size is great because you can make pretty much any bra style work for you. If you’re, for example, planning to wear a backless dress, you can opt for a silicone self-adhesive bra and just add a little volume, shape and support to an already great-looking rack of yours.

Off course, when picking a bra for everyday use, you’ll have to obey the “100% rule” and focus on support and comfort. But even then, you have so many models and colors available that you’ll have big troubles  not to spend your entire paycheck on bras only. There are even some brands that specialize in producing AA bra sizes for petite women, like this brand called “Perfectly Petite”. The creators acknowledge the fact that, for smaller breasts, bra cups need to be designed differently then for the bigger ones. They also have in mind different preferences women may have so, not all AA size bras are padded. Some girls are completely happy with their bust size and they just want something soft and comfortable while others do want that enhancement a padded bra provides.

You can pick a cute, feminine model like this lilac one from Perfectly Petite as it will definitely make you feel like a fairy princess all day long. Slightly padded cups have that push-up effect which, off course, gives the appearance of the fuller chest. Now, that padding is very interesting as it is not regular but liquid one. Bralettes are also a great choice, especially if you don’t feel the need to wear padded bras. A bralette is designed specially for AA bra size and it’s something between a bra and a bikini triangle top. These are ideal for everyday because they are soft and comfortable but provide much needed support.

AA bra size is the most common among teenagers whose breasts have just begun its growth. However, it’s not unusual for some women (usually petite ones) to have this breast size. So, how would you know if you’re wearing an AA bra size? Well, I’ve already explained the bra cup size measuring procedure, so when you subtract the band size from the bust size you are supposed to get an inch or more difference. One inch difference is an A cup, we’ve already talked about that. However, if you get a less than an inch difference, maybe a half an inch or so, then you should be wearing an AA size bra. AA cup size is the smallest one and it’s basically ½ of the regular A cup.

Shopping for an AA cup size bra can be very difficult considering the fact that the cup size may vary depending on the band size. So trying out a bra to make sure the cups fit perfectly is a must. It is the truth that large breasts demand more support but a good fitting bra is just as important for smaller breasts, too. Finding the right size bra is the only way to ensure your breasts get the maximum care, comfort and support regardless of their size. Finding the right AA size bra can, however, be difficult but I have to point out that there are more and more manufacturers producing this size nowadays.

The most important thing when shopping for a bra is to make sure that the cups fit perfectly. That means there should be no gaps between the bra cups and the breasts. The band should also be comfortable to wear but not too loose or too tight. Experiment and try different styles until you find the right bra size and style for you. Have in mind that not all women or all breasts are the same so there is no universal size that fits everybody. The system for measuring your bra size is also not 100% accurate and it will give you something to start with but everything else is up to you. The great thing about AA bra size is a huge number of models available in stores. So, you can pick a sporty model, padded model or maybe something sexy like a balcony or a strapless bra! One thing is for sure, an AA cup is perfect for experimenting with various styles.

To tell you the truth, I was surprised to find out that most women are not wearing the right size bras. And I know there is like a million of “how to-s” when it comes to measuring bra size, but I had to bring this up myself, too. So, if you find all that measuring a little bit confusing, I’ll do my best to explain it right here. So, no “smart talks” just plain and simple English, step by step.

So, what you’ll need is a measuring tape and a friend to help you. You can measure yourself, off course, but measuring for a bra is like measuring for a dress-you need to stand straight in order to have a good fit. Small busted girls can do the measuring without wearing a bra while bigger busted ones should wear a soft, unpadded one. So, once you have your bra of choice on your “little helper” can measure your band, bust and cup size.

1. Band size – To get a band size place the measuring tape under your breasts, to the part of the chest your bra band usually sits on. Measure it all around and if the number is odd, add 5 to the number you got. If you got an even number, add 4.

2. Bust size – Place the measuring tape around the fullest part of your breasts. The number you get is your bust size. Be careful when you are measuring this, thought, because the measuring tape should not be too loose or too tight as it may give you the wrong size.

3. Cup size – Now, when you have found your band and bust size, it will be easy to measure bra cup size. Just subtract the band and bust size and the difference you get will show you are you an A, B, C, D or larger cup. If the difference is half an inch to an inch, your cup size is A, if the difference is two inches you should wear a B cup, three inches is a C cup, four – a D cup and so on.

However, this measuring system is not completely flawless because the sizes may differ not just from one country to another but also depending on the manufacturer. So, before you buy a bra, don’t be lazy to try it on. Like I mentioned before, If you managed to get the right size bra, it should be good even without straps. If you feel that a band could be just a little bit tighter or cups could be a little bit bigger, try a different size. A wisely picked bra is the one that stays pretty much in place no matter how much you move and has the cups that shape and lift the breasts without making them spill over the top.

Well, I think we all agree that wearing the right size bra is the only way to ensure ourselves both comfort and good looks. However, a bra size is not a constant number as breasts change during a woman’s life. Our breasts start growing in puberty and they reach their full size somewhere around 21-22. So, puberty is the time when we first start wearing bras and measuring bra size should be frequent as the breasts grow and develop fast in that period. However, the measuring should not stop after that time because there are many factors that affect the breast size even later in life.

One of the most common reasons for the cup size change is weight gain or weight loss. You see, breasts are mostly fat tissue so if you gain weight you could come to a realization that your bras have gotten smaller. The opposite also applies, so once you lose weight you will have to go shopping for a smaller bra.

And off course, we mustn’t forget pregnancy either as this is the period in which breasts undergo many changes. Most women’s bra size increases significantly in this time so measuring bra size should be as frequent as possible. You should re-measure and get the right size bra whenever you feel your current one is not fitting 100%. During pregnancy, breasts enlarge due to hormonal changes so you should opt for regular, underwired bras and later, special maternity bras. The idea is to provide support so your breasts don’t become saggy.

Breast size sometimes changes for no obvious reason. Sometimes the change is temporary, like those days before your period when breast become slightly bigger. But sometimes the changes are permanent so you need to adapt to them. You would be surprised to know that an extremely big percentage of women (staggering 80 percent!) is wearing the wrong size bra without even knowing it. And when you think of it, one size smaller or bigger cup is not too much of a difference, right? Well…wrong! Finding the right bra means picking the one that will provide support and lift even with the straps off. It may sound confusing and it sometimes is considering the fact that there are like a million of bra styles and sizes. However, a good bra is a good investment so you can always pick a lingerie shop that does fitting too. That way you’re going to get your bra size measured by a professional so you won’t have to experiment at home and you’ll make sure you’re getting the right size bra.
